Samba Cine Club and the World Cup
Samba Cine Club is on again Friday 25th June at Bambu’s (under the new Brazilian restaurant Bisq Bar & Grill) on 107 Flinders Lane (between Russel & Exhibition)
What a better opportunity to celebrate World Cup and watch the game Brazil X Portugal together?
We will start around 18:00 for the 19:30 screening of ‘Boleiros – Era uma vez o futebol’ (Ball Players – once a upon a time soccer), 1998, a film by Ugo Georgetti . The film tells the story of a group of former professional soccer players who get together at a bar in São Paulo to remember their old glories and funny stories. It is a tribute to the passion for soccer. With great Brazilian actors, the film tends toward humor and lightness even when it is serious, just like the essence of the game itself.
After the film, the restaurant upstairs (Bisq Bar & Grill) will have barbeque specials for those who are hungry. They will be serving çhurrasco’s plates after the film and other Brazilian petiscos like coxinha, pão de queijo, etc, will be available from 17:30.
We will also have our beautiful friends ‘Trio Agogo’ playing chorinho for us to enjoy our meal at the restaurant, and DJ Hasin will be playing some fun Brazilian tunes downstairs for us to get in the mood to watch Brazil X Portugal on the big screen at midnight.
It should be a great game and a great evening so feel free to join us all night or at any stage of the evening.
However, if you are planning on having the barbecue special ($25 per person – rice, beans, farofa, a choice of salad AND a piece of chicken, picanha, pork AND sausage), and you should, you MUST let Marcos and Ricardo know. Just send them an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and make a booking so they can be prepared to satisfy everyone! J
Once again, it is FREE entry (donations to support Samba Cine Club are welcome!) and the film has subtitles. 18+ Entry.
